Objective
Create an Avatar by using CLO and Marvelous Designer software.
1. Creating AVATAR
Create an Avatar in other 3D software.
Avatar files should be created in OBJ/FBX/GLB/GLTF formats, and avatars with joints are recommended to be in FBX formats.
For avatars with textures applied, please make sure to check 'Embed Media' in the Export Option.
※ Note: The following Skinning Methods are not compatible with CLO and Marvelous Designer: Dual Quaternion and Weight Blend.
Required & Recommended
※ Below are the requirements and recommendations when modeling Avatar.
[Required]
- All mesh must be created in Y-axis(up) environment.
- You can import the following formats into Avatar Type: OBJ, FBX, GLB, and GLTF.
- All mesh’s normal direction must be facing outwards.
[Recommended]
- For the best outfit-fitting performance, it is strongly recommended to create an avatar in either an A-pose or a T-pose.
- If mesh and the normal map have the same location and direction, it may cause overlapping and flickering issues during rendering. Be careful not to overlap the mesh.
- It is highly recommended to create and apply the avatar's various items, such as shoes, hair, earrings, etc., as separate assets instead of including them in the AVT file.
- The scanned data is compatible, but the mesh should be re-meshed and editable.
- The number of meshes can impact the speed of CLO, so it is strongly recommended to create an avatar using a maximum of 70,000 triangles.
- Unless you intended to model Avatar asymmetrically, we recommend creating Avatar's mesh and joint symmetrically.
- To fully utilize CLO / Marvelous Designer's Avatar IK feature, make sure that the joints' names and structure align with CLO/Marvelous Designer's Avatar.
2. IMPORT AVATAR
Import the avatar files in the following formats into the Avatar Type: OBJ, DAE, FBX, GLTF
▶ Basic
- Load Type: Open
- Object type: Avatar
- Scale: Adjust the scale of Avatar.
▶Object
- Camera: Check whether to import camera data or camera animation data.
- Joint Animation: Check whether to import animation data.
- Cache Animation(MC): Check whether to import Cache Animation (MC) data.
▶Option
- Auto Add Arrangement Points: Automatically generate Arrangement Points and Bounding Volumes.
-
Auto Create Fitting Suit: Automatically generate a Fitting Suit for the avatar.
※ Note: It is strongly recommended to check 'Auto Add Arrangement Points' and 'Auto Create Fitting Suit' when importing.
- Move Garment to Start Position: Adjust the position of the garment to the starting point of the motions.
▶Axis Conversion: adjust the axis of the Avatar.
▶Translation
- Align Bottom to Ground: Adjust the position of the avatar to be placed on the ground.
▶OK / Cancel
- Press 'OK' to import the Avatar, or press 'Cancel' to re-import the file to be used as the avatar.
3. Bounding Volume & Arrangement Points
To dress the garment on the AVATAR, a process called 'Positioning' is needed.
To carry out the 'Positioning' process, it is necessary to generate and modify the BOUNDING VOLUME and ARRANGEMENT POINT.
※ Note: You can automatically generate both Bounding Volumes and Arrangement Points by selecting 'Auto Add Arrangement Points' during import.
3-1. Creating and Modifying Bounding Volume & Arrangement Points
1. from the Main Menu > AVATAR > AVATAR EDITOR
2. Click Arrangement Tab
Please refer to the manuals below:
4. FITTING SUIT
The 'Fitting Suit' is a fitting dummy generated by referring to avatars with various sizes and shapes, enabling automatic dressing by auto-grading garments onto the avatar.
※ Note: You can automatically generate a fitting suit by selecting 'Auto Create Fitting Suit' during import. If the 'Fitting Suit' is not positioned correctly, please generate it manually.
4-1. Creating Fitting Suit
1. From the Main Menu > AVATAR > AVATAR EDITOR
