Objective
Create TRIM items by using CLO and Marvelous Designer software.
- How to create TRM
- Creating a Trim using a pattern and converting it
- Importing a 3D file as a Trim file and converting it
1-1. How to create a Trim using a pattern and Convert it:
1. Run CLO software.
2. Generate a pattern(s) to utilize as a Trim(s).
3. Convert it to Trim.
- Right Click on the pattern(s) you wish to use as the Trim(s) in 3D Window > Convert > To Trim
4. Save it as TRM
-
- Rotate TRIM for a clear front view: You can switch to the front view by pressing the number '2' on the keyboard in CLO and checking TRIM. If TRIM is tilted in front view, please rotate it for better visibility.
-
- From the main menu, FILE > SAVE AS > TRIM > set save location and enter the file name > click 'SAVE.'
1-1. How to Import a 3D file as a Trim file and convert it:
※ Below are the requirements and recommendations when modeling a Trim.
[Required]
- Importable formats as Trim Types: OBJ, FBX, GLB, GLTF.
- The mesh’s normal direction must be facing outwards.
- In the Description, the following product information must be provided.
(1) Vertex Counts
(2) UV MAP unwrapping status
[Recommended]
- It is recommended to apply the same material to the part using the same material.
- UVs should be unwrapped to prevent overlapping, enabling users to apply a variety of textures without issues.
- If the mesh and the normal map share the same position and direction, it may lead to overlapping and flickering issues during rendering. Make sure to avoid overlapping the mesh.
- If two or more vertices are located in the same place, please weld them together.
- please use the Normal map for the complex graphic pattern. (e.g. logo, pattern, etc.)
- It is recommended to use textures with a maximum size of 1024 pixels.
- The scanned data is compatible, but the mesh should be re-meshed and editable.
- It is recommended to add an edge loop(s) to define the sharp edge.
1. Run CLO software.
2. Import OBJ/ FBX / GLTF / GLB as TRIM TYPE
From the Main Menu, FILE > IMPORT > click 'OBJ' > Select the file you wish to import and click 'OPEN.'
▶From the IMPORT window, Object Type -Trim Scale - Set the unit scale to match the program when creating the Trim(s) and then click 'OK.'
3. Save it in TRM format.
- Adjust the position and orientation of the trim for a clear front view before saving it in TRM.
- From the Main Menu, FILE > SAVE AS > click 'TRIM' > set save location and enter the file name > click 'SAVE.'
2. Modifying Trim's Size and Material
1. Select the Trim in the Object Browser
2. Select the Trim to modify material
3. Adjust the material and properties of the Trim in the Property Editor.
-

3. CONNECT UPLOAD - Entering Asset Description
When uploading the TRM to CONNECT, please provide detailed information about the asset for the convenience of customers.
If detailed information is missing, asset registration may be rejected during the item approval process.
1. UPLOAD (Mandatory)
Confirm the uploaded asset name and format and replace the file by pressing the REUPLOAD button if necessary.
2. TITLE (Mandatory)
Please enter the asset name that will be displayed on CONNECT.
By default, the uploaded asset's name will be set automatically as the DEFAULT TITLE.
3. DESCRIPTION
If you are selling a physical product, please provide the sales page URL in the description.
Please provide the default size of the TRM that you created for customers.
Please provide the TRM information referencing the Property Editor in CLO / Marvelous Designer.
- X(mm)
- Y(mm)
- Z(mm)
- weight(g)
4. TAGS
'TAGS' is a target keyword that helps customers search and amplify your content's reach. Entering the type of assets for sale will help customers when searching for the items.
5. ATTACHMENT
You can attach files relating to the TRM. However, it is impossible to track attachment files attached to 'ATTACHMENT' are being used.
6. ADD SUB-IMAGES
You can additionally add images that highlight the characteristics of the TRM.
7. THUMBNAIL
Register an image that well showcases the characteristics of the TRM.
If you applied a material that is visible only in the render, please register the rendered image.
Registering the images where items are not visible or images unrelated to the item may lead to rejection during the item approval process.
