Objective
Create Button items by using CLO and Marvelous Designer software.
Required & Recommended
[Required]
- The mesh’s normal direction should be facing outwards.
- The point where the OBJ button will be anchored to the garment must be placed at the origin (0,0,0).
- In the Description, the following product information must be provided.
(1) Vertex Counts
(2) UV MAP unwrapping status
[Recommended]
- Button OBJs should be made with less than 10,000 triangles, so there is no speed problem in CLO software simulation.
- UVs should be unwrapped to prevent overlapping, enabling users to apply a variety of textures without issues.
- In the case of a button with a thread, the thread mesh must be named 'Ren_Thread' to separate the button and thread from the CLO software Material. (To create BTN file by THREAD TYPE for reference)
- If the mesh and the normal map share the same position and direction, it may lead to overlapping and flickering issues during rendering. Make sure to avoid overlapping the mesh.
- If two or more vertices are located in the same place, please weld them together.
- please use the Normal map for the complex graphic pattern. (e.g. logo, pattern, etc.)
- It is recommended to use textures with a maximum size of 512 pixels.
- The scanned data is compatible, but the mesh should be meshed and editable.
- It is recommended to add an edge loop(s) to define the sharp edge.
1. Checking the Direction and Position of the Button OBJ
Please import the button OBJ into CLO to make sure that the position and direction of the Button OBJ are correctly set, before registering the button.

▶ Mesh Image with the wrong position and orientation
2. Converting BTN format in CLO software:
Only CLO-formatted files can be uploaded to CONNECT. All buttons must be saved in BTN format in CLO software.

- For button files utilizing the Thread Type feature, add '_Cross,' '_Parallel,' and '_Square' to the file name after OBJ. This naming convention applies only to the Button OBJ files using the Thread Type feature.
4-2. Generate the OBJ files for THREAD TYPE in step 4-1.
- Make sure that the names of OBJ files for each THREAD TYPE are set as *_Cross.obj, *_Parallel.obj , *_Square.obj.
