Objective
Create a Motion file (.mtn) using CLO and Marvelous Designer software.
Converting and redistributing motions downloaded for free or purchased from other platforms is prohibited to protect the original creators' rights. Please create and use a motion file (.mtn) for personal use only.
- Examples: Mixamo, DAZ 3D, Reallusion-Actorcore, Unreal Marketplace, Artstation Marketplace, Sketchfab, etc
1. How to Create a motion file (.mtn) via auto-convert features

- ※ Note: 'Auto Convert to Motion' is currently compatible with Mixamo only.

1-1. Creating a Motion file (.mtn) compatible with the CLO Avatar
When using the CLO avatar, you can skip the 'Auto Convert to Avatar' and move directly to 'Auto Convert to Motion.'
- Launch CLO or Marvelous Designer.
- From the main menu, click on File > Open > Avatar, or click on Avatar in the Library.
- Load your desired CLO Avatar.
- From the main menu, click on Avatar >Auto Convert to Motion
- Select the gender and the motion file (.fbx) you have created or downloaded. Click 'Convert' when ready.
- Save the motion file (.mtn) by clicking 'Save' when the auto-conversion is finished.
※ Note: If you changed the CLO avatar's body shape, please save the avatar size file (.avs) in advance so you can easily match the size of the dummy CLO avatar displayed during 'Auto Convert to Motion' to your avatar.
1-2. Creating a Motion file (.mtn) compatible with a Custom Avatar
When using a custom avatar, you must run the "Auto Convert to Avatar" before applying any motion files (.mtn).
- Launch CLO or Marvelous Designer.
- From the main menu, click on Avatar > Auto Convert to Avatar
- Set the options and adjust the dummy CLO avatar's body shape using Avatar Editor while the 'Auto Convert to Avatar' is on. (Click the LINK to check the tutorial.)
- From the main menu, click on Avatar >Auto Convert to Motion
- Select the gender and the motion file (.fbx) you have created or downloaded. Click 'Convert' when ready.
- Save the motion file (.mtn) by clicking 'Save' when the auto-conversion is finished.
※ Note: Please adjust the dummy CLO avatar displayed during 'Auto Convert to Motion' using the Avatar Editor to match your custom avatar's body shape.
2. Create a Thumbnail Image
You can upload a thumbnail for the motion file in an image or an animation.
If you are creating the thumbnail as an animation, please use approximately 100 to 200 frames from the entire motion sequence for the thumbnail.
※ Tip: you can make the motion thumbnail longer as long as GIF/WebP animations don't exceed 50 megapixels (the sum of sizes of all frames). Please refer to the following website.
- Activate 'Quality Render (3D window).'
- Check 'Show 3D Shadow' under Environment Display.
- Check off 'Show Ground Grid' under Environment Display.
- Right-click on the 3D window, go to Format 3D background > Solid Color, and set the background color to #1A1A1F.
- Change the mode to 'Animation' at the top-right corner.
- From the main menu, File > Video Capture > Record Animation.
- Set the Orientation to 'Portrait' and the resolution to 750 x 1000 pixels.
- Start recording the animation.
- Convert the animation sequence (.mp4) to webp format.
3. CONNECT UPLOAD - Entering Asset Description
When uploading the motion file (.mtn) to CONNECT, please provide detailed information about the asset for the convenience of customers.
If detailed information is missing, asset registration may be rejected during the item approval process.
1. UPLOAD (Mandatory)
Confirm the uploaded asset name and format and replace the file by pressing the REUPLOAD button if necessary.
2. TITLE (Mandatory)
Please enter the asset name that will be displayed on CONNECT.
By default, the uploaded asset's name will be set automatically as the DEFAULT TITLE.
3. DESCRIPTION
please provide the duration of the motion file (.mtn) and specify the Avatar file (AVT) that is compatible with the motion file (.mtn) in the Description.
( When uploading a file, if you have selected "Others" under SET AVATAR CATEGORIES > Compatibility, please provide the name and link of the avatar file (.avt) that is compatible with the motion file (.mtn). )
4. TAGS
'TAGS' is a target keyword that helps customers search and amplify your content's reach. Entering the type of assets for sale will help customers when searching for the items.
5. ATTACHMENT
You can attach files relating to the motion file (.mtn). However, it is impossible to track attachment files attached to 'ATTACHMENT' are being used.
6. ADD SUB-IMAGES
You can additionally add images that highlight the characteristics of the motion file (.mtn).
7. THUMBNAIL
Register a motion thumbnail that showcases the motion file's characteristics (.mtn).
If you applied a material that is visible only in the render, please add the rendered sub-images.
Registering the images where items are not visible or images unrelated to the item may lead to rejection during the item approval process.
